ABOUT
ME
Passionate About Inspiring Others
Throughout my years of teaching, I have developed a variety of instructional techniques that combine real-world experience with academic learning to prepare individuals for life-changing careers in any field. My methods are designed to inspire and engage students through the use of multimedia tools, whiteboard instruction, universal research strategies, and storytelling. These techniques enhance students’ ability to comprehend complex systems, giving them a stronger understanding of how those systems function in practice. My extensive expertise in systemic policies, procedures, law enforcement administration, corrections, and Homeland Security further enriches my teaching. This foundation is grounded in my service as a federal law enforcement officer with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, since July 2006.

As an Administrative Officer, I instruct new recruits within the Federal Bureau of Prisons in law enforcement techniques and protocols, bringing real-world experience directly into the classroom. I also serve as the lead First Aid/CPR/AED instructor through the American Heart Association, training individuals in life-saving skills. Additionally, I hold certification as a 92Y Army Instructor with the Kansas Army National Guard, where I have proudly served for over 28 years since November 1995. This military background enhances my instructional capabilities and brings a unique, disciplined perspective to today’s learning environment.
On my personal time, I lead Martial Arts Self-Defense classes in hand-to-hand combative for both military and civilian personnel. I also serve as an Adjunct Instructor at several institutions—including Metropolitan Community College, Kansas City Kansas Community College, the University of Phoenix, and Heald College—where I have taught courses in education, communication, criminal law, court procedures, corrections, and prison systems since April 2010.
With decades of combined experience in federal corrections and higher education, I am committed to equipping individuals with a deep understanding of law enforcement, the court system, and corrections. My goal is to inspire students to pursue meaningful careers and become qualified, motivated candidates across multiple fields.
Academically, my educational journey reflects my dedication to lifelong learning and professional excellence. I hold an Honorary Ph.D. in Martial Science (Honoris Causa) from the International University of San Diego, awarded in June 2011. I earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University in March 2016; a Master of Science in Criminal Justice Administration with a concentration in Homeland Security Leadership from Chaminade University in December 2009; a Bachelor of Science in Criminology & Criminal Justice in June 2007; and an Associate of Applied Science in the same field in December 2005.
These academic achievements, combined with hands-on experience, continue to sharpen my teaching methods. I firmly believe there is always more to learn—from students, colleagues, and life itself. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and being part of your journey as you pursue your personal and professional goals.
